About Me
Welcome! I’m Marianne Benedek, DSW, LCSW.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Aurora University. With a Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) from Aurora University, a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Loyola University Chicago, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts Boston, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my work.
After years of working in community mental health, I have honed my skills in providing individual and family therapy as well as facilitating groups. My therapeutic approach is rooted in a systems-based and client-centered philosophy, where I believe in addressing the needs of individuals, families, and the larger community to foster collective growth.
Collaboration is at the heart of my practice, and I work closely with schools, doctors, and other providers as needed to ensure holistic care for my clients. Guided by a trauma-informed lens, I am attuned to the impact of past experiences on current well-being and incorporate this understanding into my therapeutic approach.
My ultimate goal is to help my clients reach their own goals. I firmly believe that therapy is a collaborative journey, and together with my clients, we form a team. Many individuals seek therapy with the simple desire to "feel better," and I strive to uncover what that means to each person and develop a tailored plan to achieve their goals.
As Carl Rogers famously said, "It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried." I value the wisdom and expertise of my clients, and I strive to create an empathic, authentic, and non-judgmental space for their growth and healing. I understand that change can be challenging, but I am here to support and encourage you as you embark on your journey toward positive transformation.
I am excited to join you on your path of self-discovery and personal growth. Take the first step and reach out to me today. Together, we can create lasting change and help you feel better.
